The National Police Service Commission today presented its 2025 Budget Policy Statement before the National Assembly Committee on Administration and Internal Security at the County Hall.
Led by Commissioner John Ole Moyaki, the Commission urged the Committee to make budget considerations for the recruitment of 10,000 police officers to enhance the capacity of the National Police Service. The Commissioner said the recent budget cuts had critically affected efforts to improve the police to population ratio, which currently stands at 1:688.
The Commission Chief Executive Officer Peter Leley advocated for the support on implementation of Maraga Police reforms’ recommendations to strengthen the Commission capacity to execute its mandate. Other key areas highlighted by the Commission for budget consideration include: Automation of Human Resource Management processes; Decentralization of Commission Human Resource and Counselling Services; Enhancing the Staff House Mortgage Scheme and Acquisition of Vehicles for operational effectiveness.
